What Is Trigger Finger?

This is caused by swelling and inflammation of the sheath that surrounds the tendon of your finger. Symptoms can range from occasional tenderness and catching to painful, rigid locking of the finger. The exact cause of the trigger finger is not clear, although it can be associated with diabetes, gout, and other inflammatory illnesses.

Treatments for Trigger Finger

Oftentimes, long-term relief can be obtained with non-surgical treatments. If symptoms persist or recur, then surgical release of a portion of the tendon sheath may be indicated. This procedure can be done under local anesthesia with or without sedation on an outpatient basis.
