When to Seek Treatment for a Ganglion Cyst

Published on March 23, 2017

A ganglion cyst is a small non-cancerous lump that often forms on the joints and tendons of the hands and wrists. In most cases, a ganglion cyst causes no pain or discomfort and can clear up on its own without any additional treatment.

However, in some instances, a ganglion cyst can impede your ability to perform daily tasks or may be a constant source of pain. In these cases, the fluid inside the cyst can be removed to provide relief. If the cyst is too painful or if it reforms, it can be surgically removed as a way to provide a more permanent solution.

Even if your ganglion cyst is not currently causing you any pain, it is important to keep an eye on any changes in size, shape, or texture that may occur. If you would like to have your ganglion cyst drained or surgically removed, contact our office to schedule a consultation.
