Tendon Injuries in the Hands

Published on July 28, 2017

Inside of each of our hands is a complex structure composed of various tissues that all must work properly and in unison for our hands to function. The tendons are a key component of this structure. They are the bands of tough connective tissue that connect the bones of the hands to the muscles of the forearms to allow movement in the joints of the hands.

Although tendons are made from tough material, they can still suffer significant damage from trauma, and if the tendon is lacerated, surgery will be required to fix the issue.

Tendon injuries need to be addressed immediately. The longer the tendon goes without treatment, the more difficult it will be to properly correct the issue. An extensive rehabilitation process will be required to ensure that the tendon is functional.

If your your hand tendons have been injured, contact The Hand and Plastic Surgery Center of Katy to schedule a consultation as soon as possible. We will provide you with the immediate care you need to ensure your hand is able to properly function.
