Pediatric Hand Anomalies: Syndactyly

Published on May 31, 2018

There are a number of potential pregnancy complications that can impact your child. While modern medicine and technology has made it easier to treat some of these complications during pregnancy in order to prevent further complications, some issues can only be addressed after childbirth.

Syndactyly is a condition that is characterized by having fingers or toes that are joined together. Typically, the fingers are connected by soft tissue or skin but the bones of each finger are still separate. In some cases, the fingernails are conjoined as well. While the issue is not life threatening, it can make it difficult to perform normal tasks and can significantly reduce the function of the hands.

At The Hand and Plastic Surgery Center of Katy, we offer surgical procedures for syndactyly and other pediatric hand anomalies. Contact us today to schedule a consultation.
