A Single Nerve Is Responsible for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Published on February 24, 2019

You probably already know that carpal tunnel syndrome can cause a burning or tingling sensation to occur in the fingers, wrists, and arms. But did you know that this sensation is the result of an issue with a single nerve in the hand?

There is a nerve that goes down the forearm and into the middle finger, index finger, and thumb of the hand; this is known as the median nerve. This nerve is housed in a canal known as the carpal tunnel.

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve receives an inadequate amount of blood flow, which causes pain to occur in the hands.

At The Hand and Plastic Surgery Center of Katy, we specialize in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome and can provide you with the care and relief you need. Contact our office today to schedule a consultation.
